Utterly tempting and completely satisfying Everything Bagel Dip! Made with a rich cream cheese and tangy sour cream base blended with a homemade everything bagel seasoning. It’s a party of flavors!

Everything bagel dip is even better than an everything bagel! Made with all those flavorful crunchy little seasonings, and it’s exceptional when paired with crisp golden brown bagel chips (I’ve shared the DYI option for homemade bagel chips too if you’ve got time, they’re so good).
This crowd pleasing dip comes together quickly and is a prime game day snack or party appetizer.
It may seem troublesome to buy multiple seasonings but I highly recommend making your own everything bagel seasoning blend here versus using a store-bought one. Why? Because if you don’t your dip will likely be way too salty.
Salt is usually the second ingredient in a store-bought everything bagel dip so homemade is the way to go, unless you can find a salt-free store-bought variety (they are just harder to come by).
And after you make this dip you can also make your own salt-free DIY everything bagel seasoning to keep on hand to add to eggs, avocado toast, baked goods, roasted vegetables, meats, hummus and more. Just use the same ratios listed here for your own simple seasoning.

Everything Bagel Dip Recipes Ingredients
- Cream cheese: Let it sit at room temp for a bit or you can even quickly soften in the microwave (out of package) for about 10 seconds each side just so it’s easier to whip.
- Sour cream: I recommend a natural sour cream such as Daisy or Tillamook for best flavor and texture.
- Mayonnaise: This just adds some additional richness and a nice consistency to the dip.
- Dried minced onion: These are tiny bits of dehydrated onion also known as dried onion flakes.
- Poppy seeds: Once you open your package of poppy seeds store them in the fridge so they don’t go rancid faster.
- White sesame seeds: I recommend toasting them for more flavor, you can also purchase them pre-toasted.
- Black sesame seeds: I buy these online but some grocery stores carry them as well (they work great for Asian dishes too). If you don’t want to buy both types of poppy seeds just use more white sesame seeds.
- Garlic powder: This adds a great additional layer of flavor to the dip. It is just raw garlic cloves that have been dehydrated at a low temperature and finely ground to a powder.
- Kosher salt: If you don’t have kosher salt just use 1/4 tsp table salt and taste for more from there.
How to Make Everything Bagel Dip from Scratch
- In a large mixing bowl using an electric hand mixer whip cream cheese until fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add in sour cream and mayonnaise and blend to combined.
- In a small bowl toss together minced dried onion, poppy seeds, white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds and garlic powder, set aside 1 tsp for garnish then pour remainder in with cream cheese mixture and mix.
- Season mixture with kosher salt to taste (you can also add a little pepper to if desired). Garnish with remaining 1 tsp bagel seasoning mixture.
What to Serve with Everything Bagel Dip
- Bagel chips
- Vegetables (celery, carrots, bell peppers, jicama, cucumbers)
- Potato chips and tortilla chips
- Crackers
- Pretzels
- Crostini
- Fresh bagels or spread over sandwich
How to Make Homemade Bagel Chips
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Generously spray a 13 by 18-inch baking sheet with olive oil or avocado oil cooking spray.
- Thinly slice 2 to 4 plain bagels into coins (you have to cut at a slight angle).
- Spread bagel coins out in a single layer on baking sheet (you’ll have to use 2 sheets if using 4 bagels).
- Generously spray tops of bagel coins with cooking spray. Sprinkle lightly with salt. Bake in preheated oven 12 to 15 minutes, turning once halfway through baking until slighlty golden brown, and fully crisp.

Helpful Tips
Using store-bought everything bagel seasoning: You can make this with store-bought everything bagel seasoning but I only recommend this if it is a salt-free variety. Use 2 to 3 Tbsp of the seasoning in place of the onion, poppy seeds, sesame seeds and garlic powder.
Less fat: For a lower fat dip you can use Neufchatel cheese in place of cream cheese, Greek yogurt in place of sour cream, and replace mayonnaise with an additional 1/4 cup Greek yogurt.
Thinning dip: It will thicken as it sits (but will develop even more tasty flavor), so if desired you can stir in a little milk if you want to thin it out a little.
Storage and Shelf Life
- Store dip in the fridge in an airtight container.
- It will keep well up to 1 week in the fridge (assuming sour cream and cream cheese haven’t expired).
